24 Hours Cancellation Policy
Southwest doesn’t have a specific 24-hour cancellation policy for its passengers. The airline allows you to cancel your flight 10 minutes before the flight’s departure. If you don’t cancel your flight within that period of time the airline will consider you a No-Show and will only refund the amount in the flight credit form, but, there’s an exception to this:
For the passengers who booked their flight ticket with a Southwest gift card or Southwest LUV Voucher and canceled their ticket within the first 24 hours of booking the flight, you can contact the airline here, whereas if they canceled their ticket after the first 24 hours of booking the flight, the airline will reimburse the amount in only flight credit form.

Southwest understands that plan changes and its refund policy are made considering this in mind as the airline provides up to a full refund when you cancel your flight depending on the fare type you chose. Here is the refund policy of the airline based on the fare type chosen:
- Southwest Business Select/Anytime tickets: The tickets of this fare type are refundable. In this fare type, the airline will provide you with a full refund from your preferred method of refund or will provide you with a flight credit that you can use for your further travels
- South West Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus™ tickets: These types of tickets are non-refundable. The value of the ticket will be converted to a flight credit or Transferable Flight credit (depending on the fare) that you can use to buy a future flight.
Note: If you haven’t canceled your Southwest ticket, the airline allows you to cancel your ticket 10 minutes before the boarding of the flight, but if you still forget to cancel your ticket, the airline will automatically convert the amount of your ticket to a “Transferable Flight Credit” and if you are traveling from “Any Wanna Get Away or Wanna Get Away Plus” flight your credit will be forfeited.

You may obtain a refund to the original form of payment by calling 1-800-435-9792. You may also request a refund by using the e-mail option on the airline's website by clicking here and submitting the required information.
How Will I Get My Southwest Refund?
You can get a Southwest refund in different ways:
- Credit card: If you booked your flight ticket with your credit card and you chose to get a refund from the airline through a credit card the airline will refund your amount within 7 business days.
- Cash: If you booked your flight using cash at the airport, the airline will issue a cheque in your name within 20 business days for domestic flights.
- Points: If you want your amount to get refunded in the points form, the points will go back to the Rapid Rewards account used to book the flight. Any taxes/fees not paid for using points can either be refunded as a method-of-payment refund or a flight credit to be used toward a future flight.
- South West gift card or LUV Vouchers: If the reservation is canceled within 24 hours of booking, please contact. If you cancel the reservation after 24 hours, the Southwest gift card or Southwest LUV Voucher will be refunded as a flight credit.
- Flight credit: Southwest flight credit from a previous reservation that is applied toward a Business Select or Anytime fare will be refunded as Transferable Flight Credit.
